our story

The Company

E Com Seating is a family-owned furniture manufacturer that was started in 1993 by the father and son duo Lowell and Scott Ebersole.  Our primary focus is producing quality furniture for the laboratory and industrial fields with an emphasis on private labels for our partners.  We also offer our Blueridge Ergonomics brand for those who do not want to private label but still want to offer our quality products.

Lowell officially retired in 2007 and Amanda Johns, Scott’s daughter, joined the company full-time in 2008, meaning three generations have worked at E Com.  Some days if you look, you may see some of Scott’s grandchildren putting casters on bases.

our story

Scott's Leadership

The company has continued to grow and develop into a leading provider of furniture solutions in the laboratory, industrial, healthcare, academic, and technology sectors.

We developed our ‘Build A Chair’ app to help streamline the sales process for our partner’s sales team.   Some of the chairs manufactured for our partners can be found at Google, NASA, Merck, and Columbia University and have even been seen on the TV show “Grey’s Anatomy”.

E Com moved from their original location to where they are located now on 9/11. Expanded that location in 2004 and followed by another expansion in 2020.

Laboratory and Industrial furniture have been an ever present element of Amanda’s life as she is the third generation Ebersole to be involved in the business. She remembers putting glides on bases as a child when they would run down to the “shop” in order for Scott to complete various tasks. As the Business Operations Manager, she is happy to help with any questions or concerns you may have. Amanda enjoys running and food!

Our Process

Simply Easy to Work With
At E Com Seating our mission is to make the chair identification process easy and fast for our distributors.  We believe that simplicity is a beautiful thing.  We understand that our distribution reps have hundreds of vendors to work with, and thousands of products to understand.  We strive to make the seating portion of their portfolio as straightforward as possible.  We’ve developed digital resources that make the chair selection process fast, simple, and even fun.  Whether one of our dealer account managers is looking for a stool for a warehouse or an antibacterial vinyl chair for a Class 10 Clean Room our digital tools enable them to “build” the ideal chair in less than 60 seconds!
Responsive Customer Service
Dealers can call us directly and speak with one of our seasoned Customer Engagement Team members every weekday.  No phone trees; no complicated dialing instructions to struggle through.  Speak to one of us Monday through Friday throughout the year until 4:30 PM Central each day.
Rapid Order Turnarounds
We treat every purchase order for all 8,000 products we make as a QUICK-SHIP.  What that means for our dealer partners is that almost every order is built and ready for shipment within 4 days of order receipt.
Made to Order Chairs
Our warehouse does not have thousands of dusty chairs sitting around waiting to be shipped.  Instead, we build every chair or stool “fresh” upon receipt of your PO.  We have a building dedicated to housing parts for our chairs.  No worries that we lack the elements needed to build your chair.

experience excellence

The chairs we manufacture are used from coast to coast

As well as in Canada, Mexico, and Japan by folks who work in university laboratories, doctor’s offices, NASA, Blue Origin, pharmaceutical companies, production lines, warehouses, and even tattoo parlors.  Our products are durable, built to last, and easy to clean.  Those qualities lend themselves to use in some pretty harsh settings – from the grimiest of manufacturing plants to the cleanest of cleanrooms.

what we do

Durable Seating for the Toughest Environments

Laboratory & Medical

Our business was specifically created to cater to the needs of distributors serving the important research laboratory space in America. In addition to needing dependable centrifuge tubes and microscopes, we knew researchers needed ergonomically friendly and easy-to-clean chairs and stools.  That is still the core of our business, from wet labs to dry labs our seating solutions are purposely designed to hold up to the harsh cleaners that must be used on chairs in those environments.

The same qualities that make our chairs so well suited for lab spaces

General Industrial

The same qualities that make our chairs so well suited for lab spaces make them perfect for manufacturing and production spaces.  Our comfortable yet durable Tractor-style Polyurethane stools are used in just about any and every setting you can dream of.  Used to be Polyurethane chairs could be found in any color, as long as it was black.  Not so with our Poly’s, as we produce in blue and grey in addition to the tried and true black.

Controlled Environments

Furthermore about 20% of the chairs we produce feature special materials for cleanroom or ESD Settings.  Our electro-static dissipating chairs are tested to meet ANSI/ESD-STM-12.1-2013 standards.  Our distributors are selling them in manufacturing or assembly settings such as the medical and electronic industries.   The cleanroom chairs we manufacture to Class 100 (ISO5) and Class 10 (ISO 4) certifications.  Typically they are used in pharma, aerospace, semiconductor, medical device, and public health facilities.

Although not our core market

Office

Although not our core market, we do offer a few chairs best described as “office seating,” with mesh backs and wide seat pans for use in the conference room at work, or at home for the growing population of remote workers.
